LIFE’S MOST BASIC NEED: WATER

Water is essential for our daily activities and it is vital for the correct functioning of our body and our health.

Hence, 1 billion people in the world still has no access to clean water with huge economic and social concequances.

For us is an expected commodity, but just try to imagine a life without it...

Cambodia has plenty of available groundwater; the problem is that not much of it is safe enough to drink as many ponds or open wells are contaminated.

There are 14.8 million people in Cambodia and 34% of them don’t have access to clean water.

So we’re funding solutions to make dirty water clean. We funded a project to help a community of 300 people in Cambodia to build BioSand Filters, which kill 99% of bacteria in dirty water.

The project kicked-off in December 2015 and we look forward to its completion by September 2017

Low cost, efficent solution

This water project filters dirty water through a microorganism-eating layer, then through two different layers of sand, and finally dispenses it into a clean container.

Overall this biological process removes 99% of bacteria.

Each BioSand Filter usually provides clean water for a family, and families often help build their own filters.

WATER CRISIS:
IS NOT A DROP
IN THE OCEAN

Every 19 seconds
a mother loses a child to water related illness.

Poverty is one of humanity’s number 1 threats and clean water can help change that.

748 million people
living without access to clean water.

The woman and children must walk up to 3 hours per day to collect water that is exposed to all kinds of germs.

Most families live on less than
$1 per day.

Time spent gathering consumes their day so they can’t get an education, take care of their families, or earn an income.
